The WaterDog Pontoon Boat Dog Ladder (WAG Boarding Steps™ Model HSM-10) uses two (or three) hex drive threaded inserts. These standard inserts work well with plywood and composite decks no greater than 5/8” thick.
Customers using the ladder for a saltwater application may experience corrosion of the standard inserts, and the inserts are known to work less effectively on pontoon boats with aluminum decks (e.g., Veranda) and pontoon boats with composite decks more than 5/8” thick (e.g., South Bay). Therefore, these stainless steel pontoon deck fasteners were designed by WAG to mitigate this.
The cap head will be raised slightly above the deck surface (not 100% flush), depending on how much the floor cover compresses when tightened, but the rounded button head does not impact foot traffic and easily passes under the gate opening.

Specifications:
- 1/2-13 x 2" Buttonhead Socket cap-screw drilled & tapped full-length for 5/16-18 thread w/ nylon insert locknut (thin).
- 18-8 Stainless Steel
- Drilled and fully tapped to be used with the 5/16-18 thread 1-1/2" male knob (included with your Pontoon Boat Dog Ladder)
- This should only be used on non-wood applications.
