Our Houdini-Proof Dog Containment System is a fence extender for dogs designed to stop them from jumping and/or climbing an existing fence that is 4' or taller. The key to this fence extension kit is the unique patented design of our fence extender arms.
These fence toppers for dogs can increase the overall height of your fence by two additional feet. The curved top creates an arch over the fence that stops the dog’s forward momentum and prevents them from jumping and/or climbing over the fence.
The curved extension arms of our fence extender for dogs can attach to most walls and fence types, including, but not limited to, wood, chain link, wire-backed split rail, decorative aluminum/wrought iron, PVC/vinyl fence, and masonry walls.
The Houdini-Proof fence topper for dogs is made of formed 1 ⅜” diameter, 16 gauge galvanized steel tubing. It reaches over the fenced area 20” and can be set to raise the fence height as high as two additional feet. Two thick, steel mounting plates are welded to the base portion of each arm, and the entire arm is finished with a UV stable black powder coating.
See the "Kit Contents" Tab for information on what is included in each kit size.
Included in the fence extension kit is your choice of either our Durable Poly Fencing Material or, as an upgrade, we offer black vinyl-coated galvanized Heavy-Duty Welded Wire instead.
The Durable Poly Meshfence extender for dogs is a very strong polypropylene plastic with UV inhibitors that will withstand a dog jumping into it repeatedly. However, this component will not hold up to a dog that will grab and rip at the fence with its claws or teeth. The poly mesh is a flexible material with square openings measuring 1.7” x 1.7”. The individual wires have a diameter of about 2.0-2.2mm. The advantage of using a fence topper for dogs with poly fencing is that it is easier to install and less costly than the upgraded, heavy-duty welded wire fencing material.
The Heavy-Duty Welded Wire Mesh Fencing is recommended for dogs that regularly test the fence with claws and/or teeth. This type of fence extender for dogs offers some flexibility, but it is more rigid compared to the poly mesh fence extension kit. It also has square openings that measure 1.7" x 1.7". Additionally, the welded wire is considered more durable overall ⏤ made with black vinyl-coated galvanized steel for added longevity outdoors. The welded wire is heavier in weight and a bit more difficult to install than the poly mesh fence topper for dogs. But it is the right product if you are concerned about your dog repeatedly and persistently testing the fence extension system.

Houdini-Proof Dog-Proofer Fence Extension Arm
I have nothing but praise for all the people at Dog-Proofer, especially Jen Kapla, the"Customer Experience Guru". Over the span of three months she patiently went over my three separate orders and unique installation issues with me as I constructed a barrier for my Houdini dog. Each order was processed, shipped right away and arrived on time with all items very well packaged. I have ordered many things from companies that leave much to be desired but Dog-Proofer stands out as one of the best and the good folks who work there make it so.
Works like a charm. Very nice !!
We had an escape artist. This fence keeps him in looks a little like jail but from road you can barely tell. More importantly our dog is safe! Thank you.
Our dog is a whiz at escaping (she's the only dog to ever escape from our local dog daycare). Ever since we put this fence up - no escapes! It was easy to install, too!
My Yorkie was able to get thru the bars on my new fencing. This solved the problem. Easy to install and practically invisible from a short distance.
The fence went up smoothly, all the parts were here, and it is working beautifully.
I bought this for my sons yard, he has an ecape artist little pug/boxer at getting out of the yard. This fence cured that problem. Plus the yard is not getting dug up anymore. This product is great. Well worth it.
Our volunteers just installed the dog proofer fencing and it has been a game changer for two of our high flight risk dogs. Bruno the red coon Hound could easily climb our 8ft metal fence, and Diamond our boxer could hop over the same fence with ease, both escaping to our horror( captured safely). Since the install neither of them have been able to escape, allowing them to run free and safe within the confines of our yard. Thank you so much!
We have German Wirehair Pointers and they can’t jump or climb this fence. Before putting this up a 6 foot fence was nothing for them to get over.
Works great to keep pups in!! At first we installed it a little too high, had corners opened and the pups were trying to climb through. We lowered it and feel more comfortable about keeping the pups in. Would definitely recommend!
We have a very agile dog who was jumping the fence regularly to play with the neighbor’s dog. We installed this and our problem is solved. Now our dog watches the other dog longingly from our side of the fence.
The gate is exactly what we hoped for- sturdy and easy to operate.
Well made, easy to install, even on a round post and rail fence like mine. All you need are a couple clamps, some screws and washers and a string to run between posts to keep the posts at whatever level you want them. Be sure to buy the zip tie puller and cutter or you will spend a lot of extra time and effort. This was actually a fun project that did exactly what the manufacturer claimed, and it was far less expensive than what a new fence would have cost me, assuming you can find anyone who will show up and actually build it. The extension fence is barely noticeable, but when you do see it, it looks pretty darn nice. The dogs can't get out, other animals won't come in.
